Re-building Trust: What’s possible now?
Tuesday,
September 15, 2009
Today’s economic pressures
have resulted in new challenges for building a culture of trust in the
workplace. Once thought of as a utopian ideal, high-trust cultures have
been shown to improve productivity, profitability, retention, and
customer satisfaction. Yet, how do organizations, already low on trust,
begin to re-build trust after the lay-offs?
In this special session, Wendy Fraser, a PhD candidate specializing in
organizational trust and breach of trust, will review what we know so
far about the effects of trust and breach of trust on employees and the
organization. Additionally, Ross Smith, Director of Test at Microsoft,
will talk about his ground-breaking work on creating a culture of trust
with his 85-member team. Ross will share the positive, tangible impact
of trust to his organization as well as the impact of re-structure in a
high-trust team.
Together, Wendy and Ross will offer new insights about what’s possible
in establishing and re-building trust, from an academic and practitioner
perspective.
We are grateful to Lee Hecht Harrison for their sponsorship
of this event.
